23
In the basketball arena, MJ’s number 23 became synonymous with
greatness. His Airness is the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all Time). And if, at some point, you think
otherwise… Repent. Who else had the world singing: “Like Mike. If I could be like Mike.”
[Admit it. You just sang it, didn’t you? I heard you.]
Ok! Ok! But you might be wondering - What does any of this have to do with Jesus and
church and all things good and holy?!
Our launching series, 23 is an exciting, FRESH look at an old-time CLASSIC: Psalm 23.
Simply put, Psalm 23 is the most recognized and celebrated chapter in the Bible. Everyone
knows Psalm 23. You don’t even need to be Christian to know this popular text. It’s quoted in
movies, embroidered on grandma quilts worldwide, and recited in countless weddings,
funerals, bar mitzvahs, groundbreaking ceremonies, Hall of Fame introductions and political
speeches everywhere. But what does it really mean? And WHY, amidst all possible Scriptures, is it everyone’s go-to passage?
In our series 23, we’ll take an exciting, deep-dive into this classic text…much in the same
way that a current #23, Lebron James, might be considered a fresh take on the classic #23,
Michael Jordan.
